John Ralph SOBASKI, 66, died Wednesday, January 20, 1950, at 9 p.m. in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following an illness of two days. Mr. SOBASKI was of East Pleasant Plain but he had been making his home with his son, Harold of Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. H. B. Geers in charge. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Jones Funeral Home in Washington.
Mr. SOBASKI was born Feb. 27, 1893 in Jefferson County, a son of Peter and Mary GOZDELLA (sic - GOZDZIELA) SOBASKI. He was reared and educated in the Pleasant Plain Community and farmed in that area. On Feb. 12, 1924 he married Bertha KURTZ of Polishville.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Mrs. SOBASKI died Feb. 8, 1933. Survivors include one son, Harold of Washington; one daughter, Mrs. Wilford GREINER of Washington; one adopted son, James KURTZ of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; three brothers: Sylvester and A.P. (Tony) of Brighton, and Walter of Chicago; four sisters: Mrs. J. C. IMBER, Mrs. Joseph LEON and Miss Gertrude SOBASKI of Chicago, and Mrs. Clem BENDA of Pleasant Plain; and one half-sister, Mrs. Pete BANDURA of Creston.
He was preceded in death by a son, William; two brothers and one sister.
