PEIFFER Rites To Be Saturday

August 'Gust' PEIFFER, resident of Fairfield for the past 14 years, died at 8:20 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital where he entered as a patient Monday. He was suffering from a heart ailment.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic church with the Rev. O. F. Decoursey and the Rev. Francis Henricksen in charge. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery at East Pleasant Plain. The Rosary will be recited at the Raymond funeral home Friday night at 8:30 p.m.

August PEIFFER, 76, was born March 14, 1886, at Clear Creek, Iowa, the son of Michael and Margaret WEHR PEIFFER. He was reared and educated in the Clear Creek community, and was married in 1907 at East Pleasant Plain to Mary Magdalene FRITZ. She died July 19, 1945.

In May, 1948, he was married in Fairfield to Dorothy KELLER, who survives. He had made his home in Fairfield for the past 14 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of the St. Mary Catholic church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ernest V. PEIFFER, Fairfield; and Ralph J. PEIFFER, Brighton; a daughter, Mrs. Irene SOBASKIE, Brighton; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Mrs. Isabelle SALTS, Fairfield; and Philip KELLER, Baltimore, Md.

Other survivors include a brother, Peter PEIFFER, Sigourney; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary SONDAG, Haper (sic - Harper), Iowa, and Mrs. Theresa FRITZ, Mason City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two sisters, and two brothers.
