John PACHA, Brighton, dies

BRIGHTON -- John J. PACHA, 93, died Tuesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA) after a brief illness.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in E. Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Robert Busher officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton and at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church with a Christian Wake at 7:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus ceremony at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Joseph's Church.

PACHA was born May 16, 1890 in Jefferson County, the son of Frank and Mary BENDA PACHA. On May 5, 1914 at St. Joseph's Church, he married Agnes FRITZ. She died Aug. 25, 1975. A grandchild and a great-grandchild also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Paul of Brighton, Charles of Kalona; five daughters, Anna SHERADEN of Ollie, Isabelle ADAM of Richland, Helen HESSELTINE of Oxford, Mary REDLINGER of Washington, Josephine PACHA of Brighton; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

PACHA was a lifelong member and the oldest member of St. Joseph's Church and a 4th degree member of K.C. He had farmed in the Brighton area all of his life.
