"OBITUARY. Erastus SHAFER was born in Ohio, July 29, 1840. Came to Iowa in an early day and lived near Richland. He was a harness maker by trade. Was an old soldier, married and raised his family here. He and his wife were preparing to move to Tekamah, Nebr., when death overtook him last Wednesday afternoon as he was walking along the street. The son arrived from Tekamah and funeral services were conducted at the home Friday morning by Rev. Luther Bright, and the remains taken to that place for interment. Mrs. SHAFER, who survives the husband, will move to Nebraska, as they had intended.
