KURTZ Funeral To Be Saturday

Walter KURTZ, 88, lifetime resident of Jefferson county, passed away about 1:15 a.m. this morning at the home of his son Robert south of Brighton. His death was caused by a heart condition and he was seriously ill only a few hours.

Last rites will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Henry B. Geers officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at the Gould funeral home in Brighton at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Walter KURTZ was born Feb. 11, 1872, near Germanville, the son of Joseph and Bertha RAPPENEGGER KURTZ. He was reared and educated in Walnut township and spent his entire life in that community. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Joseph church in East Pleasant Plain.

He was united in marriage on Oct, 19, 1897, to Mary B. UREKER (sic - Mary F. BUREKER) who passed away Jan. 3, 1960.

KURTZ is survived by five sons, Ralph, Fairfield; Clarence, Osceola; George, Pleasant Plain; Norbert and Robert, Brighton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha SPINHARNEY, Los Angeles; and a number of nieces and nephews.
