Rites Tuesday for Mrs. KURTZ

BRIGHTON, Ia. -- Mrs. Mary BUREKER KURTZ, 82, of Brighton died Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in Washington County hospital at Washington. She had been ill for several years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church at East Pleasant Plain with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. The Rev. H. B. Geers will have charge of the services. The Rosary will be recited at the Gould funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. KURTZ was born July 8, 1877, in Germany and came to this country when four years old. She spent the rest of her life in Walnut township in Jefferson county. Her parents were Henry and Elizabeth HUNIES BUREKER. She was reared and educated in Brighton.

She was married Oct. 19, 1897, to Walter KURTZ who survives with five sons: Ralph, Fairfield; Clarence, Osceola; George, Pleasant Plain; and Norbert and Robert of Brighton. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a brother, Joe BUREKER of Fairfield.

Mrs. KURTZ was a member of St. Joseph's church and of the Altar and Rosary Society at East Pleasant Plain. She was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and two sisters.
