Mrs. KURTZ dies at 76

Myrtle G. KURTZ, 76, native of Jefferson County, died at 1:50 a.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been a resident at Parkview Care Center.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Louis Leonhardt officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be recited at the Raymond Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Myrtle G. KURTZ was born April 18, 1905, at Libertyville. She was the daughter of Roy and Bessie CLINKINBEARD RAYMOND.

She was a graduate of Fairfield High School and the Jefferson County Hospital School of Nursing.

A registered nurse, she taught home nursing classes during World War II.

She was married June 20, 1932, to Jerome G. KURTZ and lived all her married life in Pleasant Plain. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her husband died June 14, 1977.

Mrs. KURTZ is survived by three children: Janet POGENPOHL, Solon; Jerry KURTZ, Montrose, Colo.; and Susan BAKER, Pleasant Plain; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include five brothers: Arthur, Pompano Beach, Fla.; Cyril, Cedrick, Jack and Richard all of Fairfield.

In Addition (sic) to her husband and parents, Mrs. KURTZ was preceded in death by one brother.
