Death Takes Mae KURTZ

B. Mae KURTZ, 76, Iowa City, died Friday morning at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville where she had resided for the past several months (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Father Louis Leonhart officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Raymond Funeral Home.

B. Mae KURTZ was born May 5, 1899, in Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Peter H. and Anna PACHA KURETZ (sic - KURTZ). She was reared and educated in Pleasant Plain and attended the Burlington Business College after which she was employed in the Des Moines County Auditor's office and the Des Moines County Abstract Co.

In 1941 she moved to Iowa City where she served as director of housekeeping at University Hospitals. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Miss KURTZ is survived by two brothers, J. K. KURTZ, Pleasant Plain, and Victor E. KURTZ, Clear Lake; also two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie HAYEK, Iowa City, and Mrs. Elizabeth DURST, Overland, Mo.
