Stroke Is Fatal To Brighton Resident

BRIGHTON, Ia., June 20 -- Mrs. Frank KURTZ, 69, southwest of Brighton, passed away at the St. Joseph's hospital in Ottumwa Sunday evening at 6:10. Mrs. KURTZ had been a patient in the hospital for the past week following a stroke.

Clara ROUCH KURTZ, daughter of John and Sophia SMITH ROUCH, was born in Wapello county March 23, 1880. She was married to Frank KURTZ February 22, 1911 in the St. Patrick's church in Ottumwa. All her married life was spent on a farm near Brighton.

She is survived by her husband and three children: two sons, Charles in the U. S. navy and Francis, southwest of Brighton, and one daughter, Agnes, of Ottumwa. She is also survived by five grandchildren.

The body is at the Omar Hoskins funeral home in Brighton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning in the St. Joseph's church in East Pleasant Plain in charge of the Rev. Father Paul Wetzstein. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 8:30 in the Hoskins funeral home.
