OBITUARY

JOHN KNOPP

John KNOPP, prominent resident of this community for many years, died at 6:55 Thursday evening, July 8th, after a lingering illness of several months.

Mr. KNOPP was born in Germany, December 14, 1860, being 65 years at the time of his death. In 1886 he was married to Bertha PESHA (sic - PESKA) and soon afterwards they came to America, first locating in Connecticut and later in Brighton. He afterwards lived on his farm near East Pleasant Plain and a few years ago retired and moved to town.

Mr. KNOPP was a faithful member of St. Joseph's church and a man who will be greatly missed in the community.

The widow and six children survive: Mrs. J. J. BLEUEL of Wowner's Grove, Mo. (sic - Downers Grove), Mrs. P. H. WILMS, Mrs. A. J. GEVOCH (sic - GEVOCK), Mrs. Ed DRISH and Mrs. Charles HOLT of Moline, and John KNOPP of Spokane, Wash. Also one brother Matt KNOPP, two sisters, Mrs. Carl BARTZ and Mrs. Joseph FRANZEN, sixteen grandchildren and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 9:00 o'clock Tuesday morning in charge of his pastor Rev. J. H. Courtney, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery.
