MRS. J. KESSEL DIED AT HER HOME SUNDAY
Her death came less than a week after that of her husband

Mrs. Jacob KESSEL, 74 (sic - 76), passed away shortly before noon Sunday at her home in Pleasant Plain. She had been in poor health for the past several years.

She passed away less than a week after her husband's death. Jacob KESSEL died last Tuesday, also at the home in Pleasant Plain.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the St. Joseph's church in East Pleasant Plain in charge of Rev. Fr. Paul Wetzstein, assisted by Rev. Fr. Charles MANNHARDT. Burial will be in the East Pleasant Plain cemetery.

Mrs. KESSEL is survived by four children Raymond, Pleasant Plain; Leonard, Ollie; Anthony, Davenport and Mrs. Florence KING, Wilton Junction, Iowa.

OBITUARY

JACOB AND MARY KESSEL

Mrs. Mary KESSEL, age 76, passed away Sunday, September 13, at her home in Pleasant Plain, after a long illness. She had been confined to her bed since Labor Day in 1941. Her death followed that of her husband, Jacob KESSEL, who passed away on Tuesday, September 8, only five days before her death. He also had been ill for many years, and had been confined to his bed, completely helpless, for the past two months.

Mary KURTZ KESSEL was born near Germanville on March 25, 1866, being at the time of her death, 76 years, five months and eighteen days old. Mr. KESSEL was also born near Germanville on December 22, 1862, and passed away at his home on September 8, 1942, at the age of 79 years, eight months and sixteen days.

They were united in marriage on May 10, 1894, at Pleasant Plain. To this union was born three sons, Raymond of Pleasant Plain, Anthony of Davenport, and Leonard of near Ollie, also one daughter, Mrs. Florence KING of Wilton Junction. They also leave twelve grandchildren, besides a number of other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. KESSEL were held on Thursday morning, September 10, at 9:30 at the St. Joseph's church in East Pleasant Plain, and those for Mrs. KESSEL were held on Tuesday morning, September 15 at 9:30 o'clock at the same church. Both services were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Father Paul Wetzstein, assisted by a nephew of Mrs. KESSEL, Rev. Father Charles MANNHARDT. Eight nephews acted as pallbearers for Mr. KESSEL and six nephews carried the remains of Mrs. KESSEL to her final resting place in the cemetery at East Pleasant Plain where both were laid side by side.
