BRIGHTON -- Clement A. KESSEL, 79, of Washutcha, Wash., formerly of the Brighton area, died Saturday at his home.
The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, E. Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Robert Busher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call between 4 and 8 p.m. Wednesday at Donohue-Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
KESSEL was born Oct. 21, 1906 in Brighton, the son of Andrew and Margaret ADRIAN KESSEL. He married Ann DOUGAL, who preceded him in death. A graduate of Brighton High School and St. Ambrose College, he had lived in the Washutcha area for 35 years, where he was a farm laborer.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy SWEET of Manchester; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, William of Iowa City and a sister, Marguerite THOMPSON of Salem, Ore.
