Mrs. Agget GEVOCK Funeral Conducted at Pleasant Plain

Brighton, Ia., March 29 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Agget GEVOCK, 83, who died Sunday morning at her home in East Pleasant Plain, were held Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Catholic church in Pleasant Plain in charge of the Rev. E. P. Seidel.

Mrs. GEVOCK came to this country from Poland 49 years ago with her husband and four of her 11 children. Her husband, Nicholas GEVOCK, died six years ago (sic - in 1932). Nine sons survive, including Joe and Vincent of Pleasant Plain.

Note: Agget's maiden name has been difficult to pin down, as family trees on Ancestry show it as MAJEWSKI, MAJACESKA, or some variation thereof. Nicholas' obituary gives her maiden name as SUMANUK. To date I have not been able to locate them in the 1925 Iowa State Census, which would list her parents and clear up this matter. They are not named on her Death Certificate, which simply lists them as 'unknown'. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery. -JS
