Michael FRITZ was born in Germany in 1842 (sic - 16 Oct 1841). Died March 23, 1924 at the age of 82 years. He had been ill for some time and developed pneumonia which was the cause of his death. He is survived by his wife and three children, two sons and one daughter, as follows: Peter J., of East Pleasant Plain, Will of Brighton and Mrs. John PACHA of near Brighton. Ten children having preceded him in death. Also three sisters, Mrs. Christine SMITH, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Barbara SHEPHERD of Burlington and Mrs. Emma DANKWARD of Burlington and one brother Jake FRITZ of Burlington and nine grandchildren and three great grand children.
The funeral services were conducted at 10 oclock Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church by Rev. Father Courtney, assisted by Rev. Father Pheiffer of West Burlington and Father Gaule of Fairfield. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery nearby (sic - St. Joseph's Cemetery). Mr. FRITZ had been a resident of Washington county and had lived on a farm near Brighton for a number of years. He was a devoted father and leaves a host of friends to mourn his loss from the vicinity.
