OBITUARY

MRS. MARY FRITZ

Mary POHREN was born August 15, 1862 in Walnut township, Jefferson county. Died March 20, 1924 at 9:30 a.m. aged 61 years, 7 months, 5 days. She was married to John FRITZ Feb. 12, 1879. She leaves to mourn her loss, six sons and two daughters, as follows: Vincent Peter, Mike Mathews and Leo of this vicinity and Albert of St. Cloud, Minn., Mrs. Gus PHEIFFER of near Brighton and Christine at home, also 15 grand children, three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Geo. HOOK, Mrs. Christ MINEART and Mrs. Make (sic - Mike) FRITZ, Jake POHREN of East Pleasant Plain and Pete POHREN of Burlington.

Mrs. FRITZ had attended mass Thursday morning and she and her daughter Christine had started to the home of her son Leo to help butcher. About half way there she became suddenly ill and was taken to the home of Joseph Gevoch (sic - Gevock) where she died before a doctor arrived. Probably from apoplexy.

The funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 10 oclock by Rev. Father Courtney assisted by Father McGuire of Davenport and Father Hartigan of Washington. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery nearby (sic - St. Joseph's Cemetery). The funeral was largely attended despite the bad roads. She was a kind and loving mother and will be sadly missed by her children and friends.

Her husband John FRITZ died in January of last year.
