Marilyn J. Nebergall, 81, Rosebush Gardens Assisted Living in Burlington, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

A graveside funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Leonard Schantz officiating.

Visitation will be today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. Family will be present from 6-7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mrs. Nebergall was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Richland, the daughter of Willard and Gail Mills Ward. She married Robert "Bob" G. Nebergall Sept. 11, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minn. He died Sept. 4, 2004.

She graduated from Richland High School.

She was a homemaker.

Her pastimes included bird watching, playing cards, doing cross-word puzzles and traveling with her husband and bringing home a rock from each state visited. She also enjoyed the Mississippi River, fishing and in her younger years basketball and rollerskating.

Survivors include two sons, Robert B. Nebergall and wife Bettie of Castle Rock, Colo., and Joseph G. Nebergall and wife Rae of Danville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Smith of Klein Center in Burlington and Jerri Carter of Burlington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Arlene Stewart; and one brother, Bob Ward.
