Irene VONFELDT age 96 passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Parkview Care Center.

IRENE VONFELDT
Richland

Irene VONFELDT, age 96, of Richland, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield. She was born March 25, 1922 in Walker, Kansas.

Irene was postmaster at Walker, Kansas for 30 years. She then moved to Salina, Kansas and worked at the Holiday Inn and Klines Department Store. After her retirement, she moved to Iowa to live with her daughter and husband, Don. She loved playing bingo and spending time with her family. Irene loved Kansas City Royals.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Don) SANDER of Richland, Iowa; two grandchildren, Clayton SANDER and Renee (Jason) EBERHART; 3 great grandchildren (note: Ashley JOHNSON, Corey KINDLESTRARGER, and Thomas ARMSTRONG, per her online obituary at Behner Funeral Home's website); and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Agnes GERSTNER; her husband, Acquiline VONFELDT; a daughter, Elizabeth MOORE; 4 brothers (Henry, Edward, Alfred, and Richard) and 2 sisters (Albina KIPPES and Regina SOLOMON, plus an infant sister).

Her body will be cremated per her request. A mass in her honor will be read at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, Iowa. A private burial will be at a later date in Walker, Kansas.

In-lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family and mailed to: PO Box 323, Richland, Iowa 52585.
