Davenport, IA

Rosalie Kathleen VASEN, 93, formerly of Davenport, died Friday, March 9, 2018 at Bettendorf Health Care Center in Bettendorf (note: in Scott Co., IA).

Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Burial will be at St. Jospeh Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16th at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport.

An additional visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport at St Joseph/Mother Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Born on September 23, 1924 in Jefferson County, Iowa, Kathleen was the daughter of Frank A. and Bertha C. (FRITZ) PACHA. Kathleen married Curtis J. VASEN in 1961. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1995.

Kathleen graduated from Pleasant Plain Schools. While attending Ottumwa Heights, she entered The Humility of Mary Convent. While with the sisters, she taught at several Catholic schools in Iowa. She received her Bachelor's degree from Marycrest College in Davenport and later received a Master's degree from Clark College in Dubuque.

After leaving the order, she taught in public school districts of North Scott, Pleasant Valley, and Davenport Community Schools. She retired in 1985 after 23 years of teaching.

Remembering her with fondness are 19 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and a step-grandson, Tony KURTZ.

Kathleen leaves us to join her family in heaven including her husband, her parents, her siblings, James PACHA, Lucille DAY, Rita DAY, Gerald PACHA, and Cletus Eugene PACHA; and her step-daughters, Judy and Carol.
