Hubert Eugene HOSKINS, age 93, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Crestview Specialty Care, West Branch, IA (note: in Cedar Co., IA)

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Pleasant Plain Friends Church, Pleasant Plain, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Pleasant Plain Friends Church with Pastors Stan Bauer and Kevin Rohr officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pleasant Plain Friends Church or Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: Jim HOSKINS, 1266 Nutmeg Avenue, Fairfield, Iowa 52556

Hubert was born March 17, 1925, to Moses and Vera (LEPPART) HOSKINS. He married Leona LAKE in Ocaenside, CA on September 23, 1944. They later divorced. She passed away, June 28, 2016. In 1972 he married Louise SHARTS at the Pleasant Plain Friends Church. She passed away April 19, 2015.

Hubert served in the Marines during WWII. He lived all his life in the Fairfield area and was a farmer. Hubert was a member of the Brighton Lions, VFW, Jefferson County Fair Board and Farm Bureau. While his kids were growing up he coached Babe Ruth Baseball and was a 4-H leader. Hubert liked to ride horses, play cards and watch sports. Most important to him was to be able to spend time with family & friends. He will be missed by those who called him dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Left to share Hubert's memories are his children, Gary (Kathy) HOSKINS of Iowa City, IA, Jim (Gwen) HOSKINS of Fairfield, IA, Lugene (Russell) JACKSON of Ft Collins, CO and Dalene (Larry) HOOK of brighton, IA; 8 grandchildren, Matthew HOSKINS, Marcus (Susan) HOSKINS, Melissa HOSKINS, Joel (Hanna) HOSKINS, Charle ROLLINS, Deana HOOK, Leslie (Jon) ECKHOFF, Jered (Nicole) HOOK; 12 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Martha (Lloyd) McDONALD of New Providence, IA, Darlene WATSON of Altoona, IA and Keith HOSKINS of Wellman, IA.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, Louise & Leona; his parents, Moses & Vera HOSKINS; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene (John) IBBOTSON; 5 siblings, Rose VAN STEENBERG, Dick HOSKINS, Ruth HOSKINS, Robert HOSKINS and Alfred HOSKINS.
