William G. Roehlk, 73, of 391 Fair Acres Dr., Galesburg, IL, the father of Susan Buch, died at 9:12 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria, IL.

He was born in Davenport, IA on August 21, 1931, the son of Waldo E. and Carma Goettsch Roehlk. He married Deanna Harmson in Davenport, IA. (divorced) He later married Sheila Ann Grone on August 21, 1971 in Galesburg, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons Brett Roehlk of Cedar Rapids, IA and Douglas Roehlk of Las Vegas, Nevada, one daughter Susan (husband Jeff) Buch of Fairfield, IA, one sister R. Louise (husband George) White of Crescent City, CA, one aunt Lola Roehlk of Durant, IA, one uncle Edward (wife Alma) Roehlk of Bettendorf, IA, one niece and ten grandchildren, Trenton Roehlk, Trevor Roehlk, Trey Roehlk, Taylor Roehlk, Brandon Buch, Heather Buch, Britni Buch, Brianne Buch, Brent Buch and Amber Nicole Buch. Cousins also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict as a fighter pilot flying F86. He survived three airplane crashes while in the service.

He taught Business classes and the work study program for Galesburg High school from 1959-1987. He also sold real estate for Prairie Realty in Knoxville, IL and currently operated Galesburg Realty and Prairie Tax Services in Galesburg, IL. He took photographs for Holcomb Studio for 10 years. He also taught, was a bus driver, the assistant principal, was the PE Teacher and also coached in Steamboat Rock, IA. He taught business classes and sponsored the yearbook in Calamus, IA. He was the assistant Galesburg Baseball coach with Bob Frank. He retired in 1987. He graduated from Durant High school in 1948. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College now University of Northern Iowa in 1952. He graduated with his Masters from Colorado State College in 1957.

He was a past treasurer of the Galesburg Realtor Association. He was a member of the American Federation of Teachers. He was a member of the Knoxville American Legion post #749. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services on Saturday at the McAteer Center of Corpus Christi Church on Prairie St. in Galesburg, IL.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00-7:00 PM at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with a Celebration of Life at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to the Galesburg High School Baseball Batting Cage or Infield Tarps, or to the Galesburg Little League or to the Costa Catholic School Tuition Fund. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
