William A. Huffman
February 03, 2005William A. Huffman, 88, of Cantril, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A private family graveside service will be held Friday at Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua. No visitation will be held.
Memorials to Douglas Children's Foundation can be mailed to the family at PO Box 121, Cantril 52542.
Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Huffman was born Feb. 2, 1917, in Bloomington, Ind., the son of Solomon and Ada Stiles Huffman. He married Audrey Thompson Jan. 18, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He lived in Indiana, Pipestone, Minn., Sheldon, California, Oregon, and Mount Pulaski, Ill., before moving to Cantril in 1970. He had worked as a logger, at Lockheed Aircraft in California and became a pastor after graduating from Four-Square Life Bible College in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1951. He did evangelistic work in Los Angeles and Mississippi, pastored a church in Mount Pulaski and established the Full Gospel Assembly in Cantril.
Mr. Huffman served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, David Huffman, Robert Huffman, Gary Huffman, William Huffman Jr., all of California, and Timothy Huffman of Cantril; five daughters, Patricia Huffman and Terri Huffman, both of California, Sharon Box of Ashland, Miss., Brenda Blackard of New Haven, Miss., and Mary Adams of Mount Pleasant; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Lakeland of Nashua and Sarah Carruthers of Pahrum, Nev.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
