DEATH CLAIMS OSCAR MONSON

Oscar W. MONSON, 93, pioneer Jefferson county farmer, died last night at the Jefferson county hospital. He had been seriously ill for the past four weeks.

Funeral services will be held at the Weston Behner Funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. S. P. Williamson. Burial will be in Lockridge cemetery.

MONSON spent his entire life in Jefferson county. He was born near Salina Feb. 20, 1859, the son of Peter and Anna MONSON. He was married Jan. 2, 1889 to Mary Ellen HILLGREN, also of Jefferson county. The couple moved to a farm a half mile north of Parsonsville in 1890 and lived there until Oct. 1, 1949. They lived with their children until recently when they made their home at 204 N. D street.

Mr. and Mrs. MONSON observed their 62nd wedding anniversary this year, making them one of the old-married couples in the county.

In addition to his wife, MONSON is survived by the following children: Mrs. Lydia JOHNSON, Mrs. Ruth HILLMAN, Mrs. Olive McCormick and Bessie MONSON, all of Fairfield; Mrs. Pearl CASE, Mt. Pleasant; Harold MONSON, Downey, Calif.; Gilbert MONSON, Leonard MONSON, and Earl MONSON, all of Fairfield.

Fourteen grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive. One daughter and two sons preceded him in death.
