LUCY E. GRABER

Mrs. Lucy E. GRABER, daughter of the late Levi C. and Caliste ARROWSMITH STEWART, was born near Glasgow in Jefferson county, on September 29, 1856. She passed to her eternal reward last Friday evening, May 9th, in Denver, Colorado, where she had made her home for several years with her daughter. She was 95 years of age last September.

She grew to womanhood in the community where she was born. She was united in marriage on September 2, 1882 to John GRABER. Six children were born to them, three sons and three daughters. They lived on a farm near Lockridge for many years. She was a member of the Lockridge Baptist church. Mrs. GRABER had spent most of her life in Jefferson county. She went to Denver several years ago to make her home with her daughter during her declining years. Death came after a lingering illness.

Mr. GRABER passed away on October 19, 1921. She was also preceded in death by one son, John, and one daughter, Edith. The daughter was married to Mr. HILLMAN, and at the time of her death, left three small children, all under five years of age. The youngest was only two weeks old. Mrs. GRABER took these three grandchildren into her home and raised them until they were grown and married. Mrs. GRABER had lived a full and useful life, thinking more of her family and others than of herself.

She is survived by two sons, Rolland T. GRABER of Waterloo and Levi C. GRABER of Moline, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Laura SPRECHER and Mrs. Esther CANFIELD, both of Denver, Colorado. There are four grand children, Florence ROONEY of Williamson, N.Y., Chas. HILLMAN, of Casper, Wyoming, Weston HILLMAN of Anchorage, Alaska, Lyle GRABER of Waterloo, Iowa. There are also six great grand children.
