Donald A. Ranney
January 19, 2005 (Wed.)Donald A. Ranney, 79, of Packwood, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at his home.
The body has been cremated. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ranney was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Milford, the son of Harold and Mary Snell Ranney. He married Gladys Josephine Bourne Nov. 3, 1946, in Iowa Falls.
He grew up in the Iowa Falls community, where he attended school.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Ranney worked as a meat cutter for Nash-Finch grocery stores until his retirement.
He and his wife lived in Marshalltown for 40 years prior to moving to Packwood seven years ago.
He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Methodist church, American Legion and I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Diane Stone and husband Lee of Packwood; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gerry Allen; and two brothers, Duane Ranney and Gordon Ranney.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
