Steven E. Cook, 43, of Birmingham, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery, along Highway 16 in Van Buren County.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests no flowers, but memorials can be made to the Cook family for education. Online condolences may be left at www.behnerfh.com.

Mr. Cook was born Nov. 3, 1961, in Keosauqua, the son of Ellsworth and Patricia Watkins Cook. He married Tammy Foreman Aug. 25, 1985, in Fairfield.

He lived most of his life in the Pleasant Plain and Birmingham communities.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1981.

Mr. Cook was a United States Army veteran of Desert Storm.

He was employed on the dryer line at The Dexter Co.

Mr. Cook was a member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge and the North American Hunting Club.

Survivors include his mother of Birmingham; his wife of Birmingham; three sons, Corey, Chris and Tyler, all at home; one brother, Ellsworth Cook Jr. of Fairfield; and three sisters, Teresa Cook of Birmingham, Jackie Weber of Pleasant Plain and Anne Blakley of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his father.
