John ESSARY

John Edward ESSARY, 89, of Eldon, IA was called home Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Jefferson County Healthcare Center in Fairfield, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon with Pastor Dave Albert officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon immediately following the service. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and last until the time of service. As were John's wishes, his body will be cremated. A graveside burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Eldon Cemetery (note: in Wapello Co., IA). Memorial contributions in John's honor may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org) or to the family. Friends may sign the online guestbook at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Left to share his story are his two daughters, Deb (Al) BETTCHER of Hedrick, IA and Carman ESSARY (Ron Meinders) of Oskaloosa, IA; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

Note: The Cranston Family Funeral Home website has a more detailed obituary online for John, which notes that he was born April 4, 1928, in Eldon to John and Jessie Adaline KIRK ESSARY. He married Rosie PRICE in 1952 in Ottumwa, and she preceded him in 2006. They had four children, and John was preceded by two of them. He was also preceded by three sisters and three brothers. He is also survived by a brother, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a close cousin and friend, and his little dog Cricket.
