William 'Bill' L. WATSON

William "Bill" L. WATSON, 93, of Lockridge, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at his home.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be at Glasgow Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lockridge Baptist Church, Glasgow Cemetery or donor's choice. Cards and memorials can be mailed to 2414 Yew Ave., Lockridge 52635. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.

Mr. WATSON was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Jefferson County to Elmer Ray and Rhuie Eveylin LITTON WATSON. He married Frances FOGGY in November 1945. She died in September 1971. He married Emma "May" HAINES-DOUGLAS Feb. 1, 1972, in Lockridge.

Mr. WATSON graduated from Lockridge High School with the Class of 1941. He served in the Army with the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.

Mr. WATSON farmed all his life.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the 101st Airborne Association and the Eagles Club.

He enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping and teasing everybody.

Survivors include: his wife, May WATSON; children Karen (Larry) ANDERSON of Mason City, Sharon KRIEGER of Rome, Iowa, Rhuie (Craig) RYAN of Birmingham, Richard (Mary) DOUGLAS of Mt. Pleasant, and Jacque (Randy) RIEHM of Batavia; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; and brothers Edmond, Welday and Sherman WATSON.
