Earl Wayne Brown, 82, of Washington, Iowa, and formerly of Fairfield, died at 4:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Everett Burham officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Green Lawn Cemetery in Afton.

Family visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, preceding the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fairfield Public Library, Jefferson County Historical Society and Museum and Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund.

Mr. Brown was born May 5, 1922, in rural Afton, the son of Walter and Bessie Hammans Brown. He married Enid Ames Nov. 18, 1945, in Afton.

He graduated from pharmacy college at Drake University in Des Moines and was a partner in the Montross Pharmacy in Winterset.

He moved to Fairfield in 1968 and established Brown Pharmacy with partner Keith Glenn.

Mr. Brown was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Martin Brown of New York City; and one daughter, Linda Brown of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Faye Olinger and Arlene Robken.
