Mary M. Larson, 84, of Brighton, died Friday morning, Jan. 7, 2005, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Eldora.

Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Larson was born Nov. 26, 1920 in Eldora, the daughter of Magnus "Mike" and Rose Ellen Atzbaugh Smith. She married Warren G. Harding White in 1944 in Memphis, Tenn. and they divorced in 1963. She married Kenneth Larson in Rochester, Minn., Aug. 18, 1972.

She grew up in Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School in 1938.

She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the United States during World War II. She lived in Minnesota and Georgia before moving to Brighton in 1978.

Mrs. Larson had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in southwest Iowa and worked in greenhouses and floral shops where she became bookkeeper/office manager.

Survivors include her husband of Brighton; two daughters, Sue White of Chandler, Ariz. and Mary White of Washington, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Nan Johnson of Rochester, Minn., and one stepson Greg Larson of Elgin, Minn.; and one sister, Faye Scholey of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
