ELDON-Donald F. PARRETT 84 of Eldon, died May 19, 2003, at the Jefferson County Hospital Long Term Care Center, Fairfield.

He ws born March 21, 1919 at Batavia to Ross and Emma NEHR PARRETT. He married Ann CURTIS May 19, 1940 near Eldon.

He was a 1936 graduate of Batavia High School. He has been a farmer in Eldon and Batavia areas.

He was a member of the Batavia United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men. He was a 50 year member of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #198, and 5o year member of the Arbor Vitae Order of Eastern Star chapter 327 near Batavia.

He served on the Southern Rural Electric Corporation Board for 31 years, Northeast Missouri Rural Electric Corporation Board, and State Board of Farm Bureau of Wapello County Iowa; member of the Chief Wapello Association, and Wapello County Historical Society.

Survivors; wife, two daughters; Myrintha MORTON of Mendota Illinois, and Mary COLLOPY of Agency; two grandaughters, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents, sister Margaret BLIESE, and brother Kenneth PARRETT.

Visitation; Noon Wednesday at the church. Masonic Services will be 7:00 pm at the church with the family visitation until 8:30 pm. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Thursday at Batavia United Methodist Church; Rev. Thomas Raphael-NAKOS officiating. Kremer Funeral Home, Eldon in in charge of arrangements; burial will be at Batavia Cemetery.

Transcriber notes: The parrett family were early settlers of Jefferson County Iowa; having come from Fayette County Ohio to buy land at Locust Grove TWP & Batavia. David Parrett was the first Parrett to settle here. Some later went to Wapello County Iowa while other later went to Nebraska. Name also spelled mosty as Parrott of Wapello County Iowa.
