Ralph Edward MESSER, 88, of Fairfield died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at White Oak Cemetery Chapel northwest of Rome, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating.
Open visitation will be held until 5 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.
Memorials can be made to the activities fund of Parkview Care Center, Fairfield.
Mr. MESSER was born May 11, 1916, near Rome, the son of Josey and Alice M. COLLINS MESSER.
He was employed for many years as a television repairman by Western Auto in Mount Pleasant and was caretaker for the White Oak Cemetery near Rome. He resided at the county home for 30 years until 2000, when he moved to Fairfield.
He enjoyed horses, puzzles and reporting weather to the local radio station.
Survivors include two nieces Carol LEWIS and Mary SMITH of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lottie SAMMONS, Ruby ADAMS, Dorothy PALENSTIR and Ethel MESSER; and four brothers, Basil, Alan, Noel and Max MESSER.
