Jennie "Ruth" GOEHRING, 98, of Fairfield, died today, Friday, March 3, 2017, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center.

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

Jennie "Ruth" GOEHRING, age 98, of Fairfield passed away March 3, 2017 at SunnyBrook Living Care Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastors Danny Cary and Michael Finn officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Cards and memorials can be sent to: Dennis GOEHRING, 2146 South 32nd St., Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Jennie "Ruth" GOEHRING was born January 10, 1919 to Orin L. and Anna NELSON COPELAND at her grandparent's farm northwest of Batavia, Iowa in Wapello County. When Ruth was six months old her father was killed in World War I, at the age of 10 years old her mother married Carltie "Carl" B. KETCHAM, he died March 11, 1985.

Ruth was raised in the Packwood area and graduated from Packwood High School class of 1937. She taught at a one room school first at Linby, then the family moved to a farm southeast of Fairfield and taught at Glasgow. Ruth went to work for the Jefferson County Sheriffs' office in 1948. She married Karl M. GOEHRING in 1951. He died November 30, 1983. In 1953 she quit the Sheriffs' office to work on the family farm and raise her three sons.

Ruth is survived by her 3 sons, Dennis GOEHRING of Fairfield, Iowa, Daniel GOEHRING of Lowell Wisconsin, and Terry (Laurie) GOEHRING of Buffalo, South Dakota; one granddaughter, Brianna of Boise Idaho; two grandsons, Brandon of Chester, Virginia, and Devin (Becky) of Rock Falls, Illinois; 3 step grandsons, Randy (Traci), Riley (Jessica), and Ryan (friend Brandee) all of Buffalo, South Dakota; 5 step great grandchildren, Braden, Payton, Rose, Rayna, and Charlie ROUTIER; sister in-law Gertrude KETCHAM; and also several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ruth was preceded by her parents, husband, step father, step brothers, Harold and Forest KETCHAM, and step sister Eileen SCHNEIDER.
