Ruth A. Creath, 88, of Cantril died at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cantril Christian Church in Cantril, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. At Mrs. Creath's request, the casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.

Visitation will not be held.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Creath was born July 15, 1916, near Keosauqua, the daughter of James D. and Sarah Heath Griffiths. She married Joe E. Creath Oct. 2, 1937, in Mystic. He died Nov. 16, 1995.

She attended school in Keosauqua, Douds and Bonaparte, and lived most of her adult life in Cantril. She was employed by U.S. Postal Service in Cantril and Ottumwa.

Mrs. Creath was a member of Cantril Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Miriam Younker and husband James of Saint Charles, Mo., and Janet Ferguson of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Bernie Ferguson; three brothers, Roy, Fern and Gene Griffiths; and one sister, Mary Jones.
