Edith Arlene Davis
December 08, 2004Edith Arlene Davis, 88, of Vici, Okla., and formerly of Packwood, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Seiling, Okla.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Prairie View United Methodist Church on Highway 78 at Packwood Road, with the Rev. Shirley Hoffman-Will and the Rev. Bennie Waller officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery in Packwood.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 14, 1916, on her family's farm north of Batavia, the daughter of Carl O. and Sarah Jane McDowell Black. She married Homer W. Davis June 24, 1933, in Des Moines. He died June 16, 1989.
She was reared and educated in the Batavia area and attended Hickory Ridge schools. She and her husband farmed west of Packwood until their retirement in 1972. She moved to Vici Nursing Home in Vici in 1999.
A member of the Christian Church in Abingdon as a child, Mrs. Davis joined the Packwood Christian Church congregation in 1958. She was a member of United Methodist Women, charter member of Kroney Krew Club and Friendly Birthday Club. She also was a member of Walton Golf Club in Fairfield.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers and raising chickens. She won many blue ribbons for her candy, bread and cakes at local celebrations.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Ann McCormick and husband Richard of Vici; one son, James Warren Davis of Richland; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Dailey of Fairfield.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kermit Black; one sister, Florence Bockemuehl and two grandchildren.
