Fred SCHMIDT

Fred SCHMIDT, 56, of Webster City, Iowa, formerly of Batavia, passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 following a brief battle with cancer. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and no services will be held.

Fred was born February 3, 1960 to Fred SCHMIDT Sr. and JoAnn FETTERS. Fred grew up in Batavia where he met his wife of 38 years, Kahla. Together they have two sons, Zachary "Scott" and Rick SCHMIDT.

Fred worked at the Dexter Foundry for 25 years, and 8 years at Paintline before relocating to Webster City in 2013 where he worked at Seneca Foundry.

Fred had many joys in life which included, gardening, and fishing with his wife, time with his grandchildren and family, and he was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Fred is survived by his wife Kahla, sons Dr. Zachary "Scott" SCHMIDT of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Rick (Stacy) SCHMIDT of Corydon, IA. Grandchildren Adrian, Elziabeth and Blake. His mother Joann (sic), brother Chris SCHMIDT, sister Michelle (Doug) HOUSE and brother Shane (Shannon) FETTERS. Mother in law Marilyn WARREN and sisters in law Tammy (Gary) COOPER and Laura WARREN (Les COOK). Several nieces and newphews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by, his father Fred and stepmother Emily, stepfather Herman FETTERS, granddaughter Haleigh and father in law Garold WARREN.

In lieu of flowers, cards can be sent to Kahla SCHMIDT, 735 Cedar St., Webster City, Iowa 50595.
