Robert "Bob" Evans HAMBERG, 81, of Keosauqua, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Keosauqua Health Care Center (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mary Kathryn Hart and the Rev. Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua (also in Van Buren Co., IA), with military honors by Beer-Barker Legion Post No. 113, American Legion, Keosauqua.
Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to HCI Hospice or The Mildred Ferguson Sports Complex can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 203 Monroe St., Keosauqua 52565.
Mr. HAMBERG was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Cantril, the son of Carl and Olive EVANS HAMBERG. He married Barbara Jean JACK Feb. 15, 1959, in Keosauqua. She died in June 2016.
Mr. HAMBERG graduated from Cantril High School. He served in the United States Army and was a lifelong farmer, cattleman, and heavy-equipment operator in southeast Iowa. He retired from Van Buren County Secondary Roads; he operated the road grader.
Survivors include: three children, Cecil HAMBERG with Colleen of Keosauqua, Jacalyn "Jackie" LUCHSINGER with Jeff of Arvada, Colorado, and Aaron HAMBERG with Joy of Keosauqua; one grandson; 12 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Drake HENRY of Greeley, Colorado.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; and one daughter-in-law, Sheila HAMBERG.
