Donna Rose Peebler, 74, of West Burlington and formerly of Fairfield, died at 10:43 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Dean Moberg officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.

Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with family present from 6-8 p.m. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 6 p.m.

A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Peebler was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Fairfield, the daughter of Lewis and Bessie Nott Lunbeck. She married Edward A. Peebler June 6, 1948, in Fairfield. He died April 6, 2002.

She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948. She earned a degree in nursing from Burlington Junior College in 1967 and a bachelor's degree in health education from the University of Iowa in 1984.

Mrs. Peebler was employed as a registered nurse for seven years in Burlington. In addition, she assisted the health occupations education coordinator at Southeast Community College. She also worked on the legislative committee for continuing education of healthcare providers. She also wrote the fourth paramedic program accepted by the Iowa Board of Medical Examiners. She continued to work as a nurse until her retirement in 1992.

She was a member of VFW Auxiliary in Fairfield and Iowa State Federation of Women's Clubs, for which she served as chairwoman of the first district legislative committee. She also served on the board of directors of the Burlington Area Homeless Shelter and as chairwoman of Des Moines County Board of Health.

She was a member of Women of the Moose and past matron of E.C. Blackmar Chapter, O.E.S.

Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Richenberger of Palno, Texas, and Ruth Asher of West Burlington; two sons, Ray Peebler of West Burlington and Bill Peebler of Danville; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; one grandson; and one brother.
