Marcelle Marie LUCAS

Marcelle Marie LUCAS, 93, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield. Burial of cremains will be 2 p.m. at Packwood Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Friends of Lake Darling. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: Deanna ZILLMAN, 52 W. Madison Ave., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. LUCAS was born Aug. 18, 1923, the daughter of Ray and Venie SIMMONS PARCELL. She married Howard M. LUCAS Jan. 1, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died Oct. 16, 2011.

The LUCASes owned Howdees Restaurant and Lake Darling Convenience Store.

Mrs. LUCAS enjoyed playing cards, country music, camping and fishing at Lake Darling. She was a good cook and enjoyed sharing her hickory nut cakes and cookies. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them.

She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.

Survivors include: four children, Deanna ZILLMAN of Fairfield, Darlene CLARK of Pleasantville, Merrill LUCAS with Sue of Brighton, and Cindi McFARLAND with Jeff of West Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Keith PARCELL of Lockridge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; two sons-in-law, Don ZILLMAN and Phil CLARK; one grandson; two sisters, Esther and Lois; and two brothers, Karl and Glenn.
