Matthew Thomas Waligora, 15, of New Virginia died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The funeral was held Thursday at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Cremation followed the service.

Waligora was born Aug. 9, 1989, in Austin, Texas, the son of Mark Thomas Waligora and Kim Renee Coop Waligora, formerly of the Fairfield area.

He was reared in Ambridge, Pa., until age 8. After residing four years in Osceola, the family moved to New Virginia.

He was a sophomore at Clarke Community High School in Osceola, where he played on the junior varsity basketball team.

He was a member of Osceola Pool League and enjoyed playing ping pong and pitching horseshoes. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Waligora was a member of the Baden United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania and attended New Virginia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Jennifer Sergeant and husband Billy of Van Wert and April Leggs of Ambridge; and grandparents Bernard and Benna Coop of Weldon and Beverly Jean Waligora of New Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Victor Thomas Waligora.
