Mary Helen COPELAND

Mary Helen COPELAND, 68, of 1101 E. Jefferson Ave., died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Innis and the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to First Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. COPELAND was born June 13, 1936, in Morning Sun, the daughter of Charles and Letha McAFEE CARY. She married John Arthur COPELAND June 13, 1957, in Foursquare Church.

She lived most of her life in Jefferson County. After graduating from Packwood High School in 1955, she was employed as a clerk at Melissa's Closet dress shop for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Denise Joy FILSON and Linda Sue MUNZER and husband Steve, all of Knoxville, Tenn., and Julia Ann WILLIAMS and husband Gayle of McPherson, Kan.; two sons, John Arthur COPELAND Jr. of Oakridge, Tenn., and David Wayne COPELAND and wife Rebakah of Asheville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Zelda MORRIS of Escondido, Calif., Baja HOGAN of Richland, Marlene SYNDER (sic - SNYDER) of Muscatine and Jean RAE of Tipton, Mo.; and four brothers, Charles CARY Jr. of Batavia, Marvin CARY of California, Jim CARY of Burlington and David CARY of Moline, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Twyla RUBY (sic - RUBEY) and Lois USHMAN; and three brothers, Ellis, Dean and Floyd CARY.
