John FISHEL

John FISHEL, 75, of Fairfield, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fairfield Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1192. Cards and memorials can be mailed to Jane FISHEL, 50 North C St., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com .

Mr. FISHEL was born Jan. 26, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of Lester and Marguerite LINNELL FISHEL. He married Jane CONNOR Jan. 29, 1988, at Fairfield Foursquare Church.

He graduated from Fairfield High School. He worked for 34 years at Iowa Malleable in the maintenance department.

Mr. FISHEL was a member of the Eagles Club, an avid bowler and liked to play cards. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and watched all Hawkeye sports. He followed Fairfield Trojans football and bowling.

Survivors include: his wife of Fairfield; two children, David FISHEL with wife Pamela of Fairfield and Melinda FISHEL with Larry White, also of Fairfield; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nellie OOSTHOEK of Fairifeld, Lesta ROWLAND of Knoxville, and Miriam THOMPSON of Winston Salem, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one sister, Marie BAKER.
