Dixie A. JOHNSON of Fairfield died today, Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Dixie A. JOHNSON

Dixie A. JOHNSON, 101, of Fairfield, died Wednesday morning at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Joe Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

No visitation is scheduled.

Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church or Fairfield Women's Club.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Miss JOHNSON was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Fairfield, the daughter of Fred C. and Dottie RUSSELL JOHNSON.

She graduated from Fairfield High School, received her Bachelor of Science degree from Parsons College, her master's degree and completed her work for a doctorate. from Wayne University (sic).

Miss JOHNSON was a retired high school counselor.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder on the Session for four years, and a member of the Presbyterian Women's board. She was a member of PEO Chapter MB, Fairfield Women's Club for which she was secretary and a board member for six years, Retired Teachers Association, DAR, Republican Women, ABRACADABRA, Fairfield Golf & Country Club, and a charter member of the Friendship Force. She was a past president of the Jefferson County Board on Aging, past chairwoman of the Alpha Circle, life member of the Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary, Friends of the Library and the Fairfield Art Association.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and her sister, Manerva JOHNSON.
