Vernon Leo "Bunny" BEDFORD, 93, of Eldon, died Thursday, Nov, 24, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA).
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon, with the Rev. Dave Albert officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Eldon Cemetery (note: in Wapello Co., IA).
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present 4-6 p.m.

Mr. BEDFORD was born July 20, 1923, in Eldon, the son of Clarence and Hazel "KILDOW" BEDFORD. He married Marilyn HAWKER in 1951 in Kansas City. She died in 1995.
Mr. BEDFORD was raised in the Eldon area and graduated with the Eldon High School Class of 1941.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as a brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad until 1962 when an injury forced him to take time off. When he returned to the workforce, he was a draftsman for Fairfield Engineering and Al-Jon until his retirement in 1985.
He loved his family. He was an avid hunter of animals and mushrooms, enjoyed fishing, and spending time tending his garden. He was a baseball and college football fan.
Survivors include: his children, Mike BEDFORD of Mesa, Arizona, Vernon BEDFORD and wife Marjorie of Cantril, Dani LANDMEIER and husband Eric of Ottumwa, Tim BEDFORD and wife Abbie of Webster City, and Tom BEDFORD and wife Shari of Eldon; two siblings, Charlie BEDFORD and Betty ADLER; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Steve BEDFORD; four brothers, Jimmy, Junior, Don, and Gene BEDFORD; and two sisters, Dorothy FERREL and Shirley EAKINS.
