George Edward REBOL Sr., 80, of Eldon, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at his home.
A time of remembrance, with the family present, will be 1-2 p.m. Monday at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon. A procession will form at 2 p.m. at the funeral home to proceed to Leando Cemetery near Douds for the graveside service, with military honors.

Mr. REBOL was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Ottumwa, the son of Frank and Lena SEDLOCK REBOL. He married Margaret Faye PETARY June 12, 1953, in Ottumwa. She died in 2008.
Mr. REBOL grew up and attended school in the Wapello County area. Not long after his marriage, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in April 1956.
Upon returning from the service, he worked as a laborer at several different jobs including driving a school bus.
He enjoyed going to casinos, finding a good fishing hole, and taking his dogs for a ride in the car. He loved whistling. He didn't know a stranger and always had time for his friends and family.
Survivors include: five children, Steve KNIERIM of Eldon, Linda HEGER and husband Greg of Batavia, Joseph REBOL of Fargo, North Dakota, Janice CHRISTNER of Eldon, and Daniel REBOL of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary JENNINGS of Ottumwa; and one daughter-in-law, Becky RUNNELLS REBOL of Chariton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; two children, George REBOL Jr. and Connie ELDER; and one brother, Frank REBOL.
