Dennis Deane PRATT

Dennis Deane PRATT, 60, of Knoxville, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Accura Care Center of Knoxville (note: in Marion Co., IA).

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Burial will be in Dibble Cemetery at Stockport.

Two visitation services are planned. The first will be 2-5 p.m. Thursday at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Family will be present 3-5 p.m.

The second visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home, with family present 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Special Olympics, Pella Christian Opportunity Center or Tenco can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 3N868 Baert Road, St. Charles, IL 60175.

Mr. PRATT was born Jan. 5, 1956, in Keosauqua, the son of Darrell and Janet WHITE PRATT. He married Beverly FORBES Aug. 7, 1976, in Le Grand; they later divorced.

Mr. PRATT grew up on the family farm north of Bonaparte. He helped on the farm and worked at his grandparents' store, White's Shopping Center, while attending school. He attended elementary school at Harmony and graduated in 1975 from Van Buren High School. He participated in Special Olympics and played percussion in band while attending school.

After graduation, Mr. PRATT enrolled at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and earned a welding certification. He was employed by Vermeer in Pella as a welder for 11 years. He was employed by the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella and worked at Hardee's and Happy Joe's through the C.O.C. program. He later moved to Knoxville.

Mr. PRATT enjoyed spending time with his daughter, fishing at the Red Rock dam, and working at the C.O.C. He loved to fish and hunt, especially morel mushrooms. He enjoyed reading magazines, building model ships, working on jigsaw puzzles, swimming, and playing Battleship and chess.

He was a nice, kind and gentle man who was a great hugger. He was a trusting, hardworking, and loving person who made friends with anyone he met. He had a laugh that his sisters and nieces will always remember echoing throughout their family's farm house.

Survivors include: his daughter, Kelly PRATT and her fiance Jeff Koster of Le Grand; five sisters, Dena PRATT of Dexter, Diana HOWE of Mukilteo, Washington, Darcy PRATT of Woodinville, Washington, Dee AUXIER of Aurora, Illinois, and Deborah VAN DORIN of St. Charles, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by: his parents.
