Esther Louise NICOLA, 83, formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016.
Ms. NICOLA requested no service be held. Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory in Coos Bay, Oregon, under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel.

Ms. NICOLA was born April 8, 1933, in Harris, the daughter of Arthur and Jeanette HAIKER NICOLA. She married Duane HOCK in 1951. They divorced in 1983.
She was a military wife, weathering over 30 address changes during her husband's 20 years of service with the Air Force, including multiple places in the midwest, Texas, Key West, Anchorage, Indianola, and Fairfield.
In 1984, she moved with her daughter and family to North Bend, Oregon.
She loved God and knew who to thank for all her blessings. A warm expressiveness, honest compassion, and unbridled enthusiasm for life describe her fun personality and congatious overcoming attitude. She found humor and shared it every day. She made everyone feel loved, accepted, and welcomed.
She spent time beach combing, hiking, picking mushrooms, fishing, clam digging, entertaining friends and family, and attending church.
She lived her life to the max even with painful debilitating arthritis, always keeping a positive attitude.
Survivors include: sister, Fran STOLTENBERG, CL; one daughter, Arla FORD and husband Craig from North Bend, Oregon; one son, Randy HOCK and wife Tracy of Birmingham; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and sisters of Clear Lake, South Dakota.
