Alice June DICKINSON

Alice June DICKINSON, 87, of Washington, formerly of Brighton, died Tuesday evening September 20, 2016, at McCreedy Home in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA).

She was born July 21, 1929, in Clay Township to George William and Vera Jeanette WOODFORD STATLER. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1946 and from Thompson's Rudemar Beauty School in 1947.

In 1951, Alice was united in marriage to Don D. DICKINSON in Brighton. She was a homemaker and operated a beauty shop from their home in Brighton until the early 1990's when she retired. She was a member of the Brighton United Church and the P.E.O. Chapter AQ in Brighton.

Alice enjoyed doing genealogy in her spare time and played the organ for many years at the church. She and Don moved to Washington in April 2010 and to the McCreedy Home in August 2011. Family meant the world to Alice and she enjoyed following her children and grandchildren's activities.

Alice is survived by son Terry DICKINSON and wife Donna of Plymouth, MN, daughter Diane SHEETS and Husband Mark of Keota, grandchildren Tyler SHEETS and wife Katie of Keota, Erin SHEETS of North Liberty, Katie DICKINSON and Jack DICKINSOBOTH (sic - DICKINSON both) of Plymouth, MN, sister Lois PHILLIPS of Arvada, CO, brother George Clive STATLER and wife Shirley of Ankeny, brother and sister in law Ralph and Kathryn DICKINSON, Russel and Jane WHITAKER all of Brighton and many nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Don on September 10, 2013, her parents and nephew Jeff DICKINSON.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday September 23, 2016, at the Brighton United Church with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton (in Washington Co., IA).

Visitation at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton will open at 3:30 P.M. Thursday afternoon with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Memorials for the Brighton United Church or the McCreedy Home may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Gould Funeral Home, P.O. Box 149, Brighton, IA 52540.
