Eva Viola Cox Shamblin, 85, of 307 E. Madison Ave., died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at home.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edgar Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery in Richland.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. No family visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa.
Mrs. Shamblin was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Richland, the daughter of John Frank and Mabel Estes Cox. She married Russell Edward Shamblin June 18, 1944, at Richland Friends Church in Richland.
She lived most of her life in the Fairfield community. After graduating from Richland High School in 1937, She was employed as a medical assistant by Dr. John W. Castell for 22 years.
Mrs. Shamblin was a member of Fairfield Friends Church. In addition, she was a member of Fairfield Women's Club and Fairfield Business and Professional Women and was past president of Wapello County Medical Association.
Her hobbies included making Christmas ornaments, ceramics and jewelry art.
Survivors include her husband; and one brother, Wilford Franklin Cox of Richland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, John Marvin Cox.
