Lewis SUTTON

Lewis SUTTON, 91 of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Rev. Don Collings officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery (note: in Washington Co., IA).

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m.

A memorial has been established to Marr Park Conservation Center.

Mr. SUTTON was born July 30, 1913, in Selma, the son of Burge and Cecil LEWIS SUTTON. He married Kathryn Elizabeth McCOY, May 29, 1942, in Memphis, Mo.

He served in the U.S. Army from June 1943 to January 1944.

Mr. SUTTON was employed with the railroad prior to his marriage and following the war worked at several locker plants including the Washington COOP locker.

From 1953 to 1976, he and his wife owned and operated a locker plant in Lockridge. In 1983, they retired to Washington to be with family. He enjoyed his family, gardening, bird watching, trees and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn; one son Dwight SUTTON and wife Nancy of Washington; one sister, Viola TAYLOR of Mount Vernon; two brothers, David SUTTON and John SUTTON, both of Rochester, N.Y.; two grandsons; two step-grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Wayne, Kenneth and Everett SUTTON.
