James BLACK, 65, of rural Keosauqua died at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at home.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery west of Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa of American Cancer Society can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 18776 Route J-40, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. BLACK was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Keosauqua, the son of Ross and Thelma CRAMER BLACK. He married Judy PARKER. They divorced. He married Fae LONG FRANKLIN June 6, 1982, in Keosauqua.
After graduating from Stockport High School in 1958, he served four years in the United States Army. He worked as an electrician in Iowa, Illinois and Colorado and was a self-employed electrical contractor for 30 years. He owned and operated rental properties in Keosauqua and Fairfield.

His hobby was woodworking in his shop at home.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Julie FISHER of Engelwood, Colo.; one son, Jay BLACK of Oskaloosa; four stepsons, Bruce FRANKLIN of Keosauqua, Gene FRANKLIN of Mount Sterling, Gregory FRANKLIN of Tiffin and Curtis FRANKLIN of North Liberty; two stepdaughters, Connie JOHNSON of Keosauqua and Julie PEDRICK of North Liberty; 25 grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond BLACK of Greenville, N.C., and Ronald BLACK of Granby, Mo.; and three sisters, Marge BROWN of Pineville, Mo., Mary FUNK of Shawnee, Kan., and Dorothy CLIFF of Carson City, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
